Technicians Guide on HVAC Installation dailybusinesspost.com/technicians-guide-on-hvac-installation Do you have an HVAC system at your home and if yes, then you must be aware of its functioning and installation. The reason is that you will be able to manage the system better, save on electricity bills, and enjoy a comfortable environment. So, here is a technician’s guide on HVAC installation. How to Install an HVAC Unit? For successful HVAC installation, you must follow this guide: Compute the Load The initial step is to compute the load. You may use a specialized sizing form to perform the task accurately and provide room by room load for the system. After the system is correctly sized, you may proceed with equipment installation. Identify an Appropriate Location for the Fan Coil Unit The primary consideration is at which location to install the fan coil unit. It can be positioned in an unconditioned basement, attic, closet, garage, crawl space, or utility room. You need to ensure that the location is shielded from the weather and local codes are not overlooked. Also, you need to take care of the position of the return air filter box and channel. The location of the diameter plenum, air supply pipes, refrigerant lines, and condensate drain line are all important considerations. 1/3 So, when you install the fan coil above the ceiling, you should install a secondary drain pan along with a float switch. However, you should again review your local codes for this requisite. Cut off the Return Air Opening After this: 1. Cut down the return air opening. 2. Choose the precise location for the return ductwork. 3. Never install the return air box in the dining room, living room, or kitchen until the ductwork is installed with a 180 degrees’ curve. Once the opening is cut according to the size of the return air opening, you may pass the fan coil through it. Build a Basic Platform You may form a primary platform according to the size of the fan coil unit. You may find the guidelines for this in the HVAC installation manual. Experts recommend using 2 to 8 inches’ stud timber and at least half-inch plywood for platform building. Make sure to use the available isolation strips below the unit for ideal performance. You must append the platform overhead by one-fourth-inch threaded rods at the positions where you need to suspend the fan coil. Never attach the threaded road straight to the fan coil cabinet. Connect the Supply Plenum Ring Don’t forget that the supply plenum ring will be many inches lesser than the bottom of the fan coil unit. It will be crucial to shift the fan coil beyond the platform edge to lodge the plenum ring. Moreover, before installing the supply plenum ring, ensure to connect the plenum ring gasket to the fan coil cabinet. Attach the Condensate Drain The next step is to attach the condensate drain trap delivered to the fan coil unit. Review the instructions along with the supplied condensate drain trap. Don’t forget to run the condensate drain line from the trap to an appropriate drain as per the local codes. And make sure that the drainpipe is pitched one-fourth per foot. Don’t attach the condensate line to a sealed drain system. Use the secondary drain pan for the overhead system. You may immediately contact HVAC Cleaning Duluth GAif you see any mold growth. Attach Refrigerant Lines Attach the refrigerant lines from the external condensing unit to the indoor fan coil unit. Don’t forget to follow the manufacturer’s instructions for fixing, sizing, trapping, charging, and using filter dryers. Attach Supply Tubing and Plenum Duct 2/3 When you fix the air distribution apparatuses, performing a system layout according to your sizing parameters is always a great idea. You may efficiently operate the plenum duct in any location that is easily accessible to attach supply tubing. The plenum duct mounting, elbows, and branch runs should be 18 inches from the fan coil unit. Experts suggest that you should keep the utilization of tees and elbows to a minimum as it helps keep the system pressure drop to the bottom. So, when fixing the plenum, you should cut down the male end of the initial section. Set Up the Terminator Passage and Sound Attenuation Pipes Next, you need to install room terminators and sound attenuation piping. Spot the position where you would want to fix the room terminator. So, when you identify the location for the terminator, its midpoint needs to be five inches from the edge of the wall. So, when you install a room-ceiling, it should be five inches from every wall edge. After you identify the location: 1. Drill a hole for the outlet. 2. After you check all clearance, use a 4 inches’ hole to dig a hole, and use the oneeighth hole as a model. 3. Pull the terminator to the sound attenuation piping by fixing the connectors and twisting till tight. Setup the Supply Tubing Now it’s time to fix the supply tubing. Try to avoid sharp bends in the supply channel and attenuator tubing. You may cut the tubing as per your requirement. However, the minimum length is six feet, while the max is 30 feet (with the attenuator). Cut down your supply pipe to the appropriate length. Then fix the connector to the tubing by stringing it into the cut end of the tubing. Fold the insulation and scrim below the collar of the connector. Then cover tape around the connector to lock two pieces together. Lastly, fix the connectors through a twist-action unless they are adequately secured. You chose to cut a two-inch hole by supplying a hole cutter in the plenum position. Ensure that the hole is 20 degrees down angle to remove pressure on the plenum. To make the hole with a cutter, rotate the cutter back and forth, apply sufficient pressure to push the serrated edge into the foil, and insulate the plenum. Then, place the plenum take-off seal around the hole. After you are done with supply run installations, you can start installing the return air duct. However, you may contact Air Duct Sanitizing Duluth if you cannot manage. Also Read: Evolution of Vaping Technology: Complete Guide 3/3
